RODANTE jenever is the first recipe the Filosoof ever made (which was also taxed accordingly).

It is still also one of the most pleasant recipes. The RODANTE jenever celebrates birth but espacially the period of expecting prior to it. It narrates about the longing and the struggle. The jenever is named after my dear friend RODANTE who is both a philosopher and a midwife. Therefore she was also the perfect woman to help the first Filosoof Jenever to see the light.

The Netherlands has a rich tradition of birth drinks. The RODANTE jenever is my own interpretation of this tradition. Other than just celebrating the arrival of yet another ofspring, this jenever celebrates the creative act, the superreal birth, itself.

The RODANTE has a very pleasant dry palate. The bourbon firkin aged rye maltwine has notes of toffee and vanilla custard. The bouquet is very floral with roses, hawthorne and chamomille. The jenever is very aromatic, yet grounded in a fierce rye body. It’s a spirit to celebrate and provoke creativeness. RODANTE is a great pairing with a lighter porter.
